The seat of Martin County, Stuart is widely known as a fisherman’s paradise. The city’s history includes colorful tales of Spanish galleons shipwrecked centuries ago off of Florida’s Treasure Coast. While some quantities of gold and silver have been salvaged, tales of undersea treasure still abound. Stuart began to grow in earnest after the florida East Coast Railway opened the gates of South Florida in the late 1890s. The city takes its name from a local landowner of that time, Homer Hine Stuart, Jr. Incorporated in 1914, Stuart is now home to more than 17,000 residents. In 2008, Stuart was designated Most Beautiful City in America in its population range.

The nursing home abuse and neglect attorneys at Freeman Injury Law, are pleased to be firm of choice for Stuart residents who want reliable legal advice and representation for elderly loved ones who have been harmed by neglect or abuse. Our firm is committed to protecting the rights of those who are vulnerable to inadequate caregivers or unscrupulous individuals seeking financial gain at their expense.

Stuart and other communities throughout Florida pride themselves on the excellent quality of life residents enjoy. But the Stuart nursing home neglect lawyers at our firm know that quality of life can rapidly deteriorate when nursing homes fail to meet their duty of providing professional-level care to those who pay for their services. We know that nursing homes often fail to deliver care that’s appropriate because the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, which inspects and licenses nursing homes, issues thousands of citations each year for deficiencies in both health and safety standards.

Issues such as understaffing, poor maintenance, and deficient care compromise the quality of life of nursing home residents. Our Stuart nursing home abuse and neglect attorneys handle claims for the harm that befalls residents. One of the problems that poor care can cause includes serious injuries from falls that happen because residents don’t have help to move about. Nursing home residents average more than two falls each, and about 20% of those cause severe damage, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Another issue for nursing home residents when care levels deteriorate is infections. Antibiotic strains such as MRSA can rapidly rob frail elderly residents of their lives, as can sepsis. Sometimes called blood poisoning, sepsis occurs when the immune system over-reacts to bacteria entering the body through bedsores, cuts, and other open wounds. The National Institutes of Health confirms that elderly individuals are among the highest risk groups for sepsis and notes that about half of those who develop the condition will lose their lives to it.

Outside the nursing home environment, Stuart elder abuse lawyers at our firm know that elderly individuals also risk harm from physical, emotional, financial and other forms of abuse. Often that abuse is at the hands of family members or others entrusted with providing care to the elderly. Millions of older Americans fall victim to elder abuse each year and much of the damage that occurs is never reported to authorities.

At Freeman Injury Law, our Stuart nursing home neglect and elder abuse attorneys believe that all members of our community are entitled to the best quality of life possible. We have dedicated our efforts to helping those who need strong advocacy and the vigorous representation of attorneys who refuse to be intimidated by nursing home administrators and owners, abusive caregivers, and others who would rob seniors of their health and their assets. We’ll take decisive action to protect your rights or the rights of loved ones who are in harm’s way because of abuse or neglect. Call our offices to schedule a consultation about your nursing home care or elder abuse concerns. If we don’t recover money for you, you owe us nothing.
